Lexi
Head Mod

Lexi is an illlustrator, figure skater, and asexual girl who fangirls mostly Vikyuu, Ace Attorny (especially Ryuunosuke Naruhodo), The Case Files of Jeweler Richards, and more. She first saw YOI when it aired in 2016 and has been in love ever since. This is her first zine as head mod and her third zine in total. She'll be Head Mod.

Ara
Beta Mod

Ara is a cat lover and general art fanatic. They write fanfic and will write about anything they think is awesome and cool. They have participated in, run, and modded a number of zines, both polished and punk.

Zetsu
Graphic Designer mod

Zetsu is certified in Photoshop. She's currently attending college for technology and reads danimei novels whenever possible.

Lia
Beta Mod
Lia is a librarian by day and fandom trash by night. She is a huge fan of Viktuuri and is a multishipper/multifandom girl. She has experience in a few zines and loves making zines.

Sarah DeAngelo
General mod

Sarah is a huge fan of YOI, and loves many other fandoms as well. She has loved Viktuuri from the very start.

Contributor Guidelines

General

Celebrating the beauty of Yuuri Katsuki through Love and Life.

Our stories and art will explore themes of beauty. Examples include art history about beauty, AUs about modelling, pieces that deal with aesthetics, runway fashion shows, and pin-ups.

This zine is M rated because of nudity and mature theme.

Our final deadline will be on May 12.

All pieces must be original creations for the zine and not previously created works.

For Writers
Please submit an unpublished story with a maximum word count of 3,000 words (with the leeway limit of 100 words) in a Google Document. At the top of your piece, state the total word count and list tags like you would when publishing on AO3.

You don't have to have a formal beta. After the deadline, there will be a copy editing phase such as grammar, punctuation and spelling for corrections.

Content Rules for Writers
Minimal swearing! You can use some strong language, but sparingly.
You can explore sensitive themes, but no violence is allowed.
No slurs or hate speech.

For Artists
It doesn't have to be colorful but its encouraged.
Comics are allowed! But its a limited availability for multipage.

If you're doing a comic, submit the whole piece and the separate pages as separate files.

How will the zine be promoted?
Through Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram. It will be up to the mod team (which is us) and contributors to reblog, retweet etc to spread the word.

FOR APPLICANTS
Can anyone apply for the zine?
The zine is open for contributors 18 and over.

How many contributors is the zine planning to feature?
This zine plans to feature 35 total contributors. 25 artist and 10 writers.

What are the application requirements?
Writers will be required to link three fics of no more than 3000 words each. At least one must be YOI. We will be reviewing grammar and punctuation, characterization, plot, creativity and pacing.
Artists will be required to link three pieces of artwork. At least one must be Yuri on ice and one must be in full color. We will be reviewing general knowledge of fundamentals such as anatomy, compositions and coloring, as well as creativity and originality.

Can I apply if I’ve never done a zine before?
Yes!
Can I apply as both a writer and an artist?
Yes!
Can my application samples include nsfw pieces?
Yes! This zine will have mature themes, so NSFW application pieces will be accepted.

How will I know if my application was accepted? Will only selected contributors get notified?
All applicants will receive an email, regardless of whenever they have been accepted as contributors.

Is this zine only viktuuri?
Yes. The zine will focus on Yuuri and, while other characters will be allowed to appear, Viktuuri will be the only accepted ship.

Will there be a community/server for contributors and mods?
Yes.

What are the page dimensions for artists?
Full canvas size: 5.75” x 8.75” . Art space: 5.5” x 8.5”

Is traditional art allowed?
Yes!

What are the max and min word count for writers?
Min: 500. Max: 3,000

Will there be separate merch artists?
No .Our merch will be designed and created by our contributing zine artists.

Are collaborations between contributors allowed?
Yes!

Is a beta required for writer applicants?
No! A beta reader will be provided.

Can I use my own beta for my story?
Yes!

How will contributors be notified about progress check-ins?
Check-ins will take place on discord.

What are the check-in requirements/expectations?
Please see our schedule page for the most up to date schedule announcements. Below is our preliminary schedule:
First check in: (January 20th): Have the estimated word count and general idea of what your piece will entail, but actual progress is not necessary at this stage. Ideally: you should be able to provide a short blurb about your concept.
Second Check in: (March 12); Some degree of work, whether that be a sketch, an outline, a few paragraphs, etc. Ideally: 20-30% of your overall work.
Third check in:( April 15th) ideally 60% line art finished, and perhaps flat colors applied. First draft written or coming to the half-way point in your story.
Final check in:(May 12th): All pieces are due, except for those granted extensions.
Zine Release: (June 2)

How will the completed pieces be collected?
We will have a google form available for the contributors to upload all of the complete pieces.

What if I need to drop out of the zine?
We understand life comes first. We have a schedule in place to gather pinch-hitters if they are required, though we ask that if you do need to drop out, please do so before the final check-in, if possible.

What do contributors get?
All contributors will receive the free PDF zine.

Can contributors post their own (unofficial) previews? Or are the official previews the only ones allowed to be shown?
Official previews will be posted closer to the free zine release. Contributors are free to post their own previews at that time as well, to their own audiences, as long as they link back to or mention one of the zine's accounts in some way.
